The Headlines:   

In the role of Manager Learning and Development, you are a key member of the People Development Center of Excellence. This role is responsible for implementation of the annual and multi-year learning strategy for the plant as aligned to the Regional People Development learning strategies and initiatives.  Includes leading the development, delivery and sustainment of plant learning strategy and solutions designed to build required technical and leadership capabilities. Key leadership role in the plant to ensure consistent application of established learning and development principles and standards, and key interface role with corporate Learning and Development in order to drive a consistent, division-wide strategy.


The Responsibilities: 


Learning Strategy Development and Integration:

  • Develop and champion the overall learning strategy for the plant that is consistent with the Global People Develpoment Learning strategy and World Class Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of the annual Learning and Development plan
  • Develop and secure alignment to the resources needed to enable implementation of the plant annual learning plan
  • Develop the plant annual Learning plan budget including budgeting of labor hours, establish and maintain oversight of the learning and development budget; Track budget spend and deliver objectives
  • Establish, sustain/maintain local First Choice Learning Center campus offerings


Talent Development:

  • Support outputs from the Talent Management process, including identifying/securing Regional Leadership Development aligned learning solutions to address individual and collective needs
  • Guide and coach individual development of the plant leadership team and salaried leaders
  • Facilitate, guide and coach development of L&D team
  • Lead the implementation work of the skills competency assessment process at the local level


Leadership and Coaching:

  • Ensure engagement, buy-in and adherence to “one-way” approach with plant leadership, employees and L&D team
  • Interface with plant leadership
  • Establish and maintain a process whereby intellectual knowledge is captured and transferred on an on-going basis
  • Ensure the existence of a viable on-boarding program, consistent with the overarching enterprise and supply chain functional on-boarding program, that will initiate the transfer of knowledge from an employee’s initial point of contact with the organization.


Training Delivery and Effectiveness Measurements:

  • Ensure all training conducted at the local level is consistent with the stablish standards of excellence that have been established by the corporate learning and development community.
  • Adhere to People Development learning principles, methodologies, standards and governance.
  • Collaborate with corporate Learning and Development personnel and local subject matter experts on content development for training initiatives.
  • Manage and participate in the comprehensive training delivery plan, including ensuring that qualified trainers are in place to deliver training, and delivering training as needed.
  • Leverage the corporate identified methods whereby the effectiveness of training initiatives are measured and implement same at the local level.


Efficiency Improvements:

  • Develop and share best practices in processes and efficiencies. Via communication with the World Class Supply Chain community, and the company-wide learning and development community, facilitate introduction of best practices at corporate and plant levels.
  • Serve as key communication contact with the corporate Learning and Development community.


The Other Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business, Education or related degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing (or operations) and learning and development
  • 3 or more years of experience in direct application of adult learning methodologies and learning strategy
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing learning programs
