The Headlines:
In the role of Director HR Business Partner - Canada you will be part of the HRBP team. You will lead a team of HRBPs as part of the Canada Commercial Leadership team to develop, implement and enhance total Canada Commercial HR support of business goals. As a member of the Canada Commercial Leadership team, this role is the primary point of contact for all culture and people goals for the team (including 6 Pints), covering ~450 hourly and salaried (union and non-union) employees and total salary spend >$23MM. This role is responsible for both influencing adoption and effectiveness of enterprise programing and leading development of customer-specific requirements with HR Centers of Excellence. The role requires strong influence, relationship and organization abilities and will also oversee all HR transaction delivery and support to 6pints, including payroll and benefits administration.
The Responsibilities:
- Most importantly, you will lead a team of talented colleagues, and support their growth and development through career discussions and consistent one on one conversations
- Leads HR goal setting for assigned function balancing both push (enterprise programing) and pull (customer-specific programing) requirements that support the achievement of MCBC Americas and functional-specific LRP and AOP goals
- Uses seat on functional leadership team, leadership of a team of functionally-aligned HRBPs, data and analytics, and customer insights to ensure rigorous oversight of performance execution and return on investment
- Influences decision making and course correction as required to ensure continuous improvement against primary people and culture goals
- Owns performance results against primary people and culture goals for function
- Ensures a culture where all people can thrive, fostering personal & professional growth, with the best leaders of people and business practices through ownership and execution of Performance & Talent Management and DEI plans within assigned function
- Accountable for execution of all major people calendar processes within assigned functions, including Performance Management, Talent Management, Employee Experience, and Annual Compensation Planning
- Partners with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure delivery of operational requirements that support business results on an ongoing basis, e.g. recruiting and people development
- Leads a team of functionally-assigned HRBPs to set vision and direction, coach performance and development, and enable longer-term growth and progression within MCBC
- Ensures team is well trained on items that support performance delivery, that development plans support ongoing growth and performance, and that the team are role-modelling the expected values and behaviors for MCBC
- Provide thought leadership and partnership to assigned function and supporting HR Centers of Excellence that advance our people and culture goals
- Influences planning, development, deployment, mindset and behaviors, ensuring ongoing monitoring to enhance effectiveness of investment in people and culture capabilities
- Uses deep understanding of function LRP and AOP goals, together with deep appreciation of operating environment and HR best practice to influence HR work within assigned function and the broader Americas MCBC business
- Manages operational and culture risk through effective stewardship of complaints, investigations and "speak up" concerns, working with partners in Legal and Compliance as required
- Ensures ongoing connection with Labor Relations and Legal & Compliance teams addresses any broader opportunities
- Responsible for contract management and labor relations for unionized sales groups
- Supports assigned function with Organizational Design and Organizational Effectiveness projects, coordinating with HR Centers of Excellence as required, to advance MCBC capabilities
The Other Qualifications:

- You have a Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience (4+ years) in the field of HR
- You have at least 10-15 years experience in HR

- You have experience with the HRBP operating model and leading through others required
- You have experience working with Trade Unions and within Labor Relations environment
- Ability to operate strategically and tactically to support business goals and results
- Understanding of HRBP Operating model and how to work with/through others on shared goals
- Ability to analyze broad and disparate data/reports to synthesize insights and recommendations to actionable items
- Strong understanding of HR best practice and employment legislation in Canada
- Ability to influence hearts and minds to affect behavior and culture change, rallying teams around inspiring goals and plans
- Deep understanding of DEI, Performance Management, Talent Management, Compensation practices, People Development & Capability building, and Change Management
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple teams, managing to deadlines and organizing effective cadence of communication and engagement around decision points and milestone meetings
- Understanding of labor relations and union contract management is required
- Experience working across multiple language employee base
