The Headlines:   

In the role of Barley Elevator Supervisor working in Power, Montana, you will supervise the receiving, cleaning and condition, storage, and shipment of malt barley plus the receiving, cleaning, conditioning, treating, and bagging of seed for the dispersal to contract growers. Maintains schedules with zero rejection rate from the breweries. Supervises operations with safety as the first priority.

 

This position reports to the Regional Manager – Barley Program.

 

The Responsibilities: 

  • Safety- Assures that all activities are carried out in the safest manner. Drives, coordinates, initiates, and supports the development and sustainability of all safety and compliance programs.
  • Supervises the quality checking, receiving, storage and cleaning of new crop barley and barley seed. Full responsibility for maintaining the inventories and records of the barley and barley seed during receiving and shipping.
  • Maintains the high quality of the barley through daily visual inspections of the storage facilities.
  • Supervises elevator activities, which includes cleaning and loading when shipping barley from the elevator to the brewery. Maintains and prepares inventory reports for the brewery.
  • Ensures future designs of production equipment are designed appropriately.  Will lead the initiation, support, coordination, and sustainability of process improvement projects related to safety and productivity through team involvement in their area.  Leads tactical implementation of improvement projects.  

 

The Other Qualifications:

  • High school degree required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in grain elevators with supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of proper barley conditioning and insect control.
  • Ability to read and understand logic diagrams.
  • Ability to manage, train and supervise elevator personnel.
  • Basic computer knowledge – can quickly develop the skills to manage information in Excel, Word, EBMS and SAP.
  • EPA commercial certified pesticide license required.
  • Must be mechanical inclined and have the ability to find problem areas and make machine repairs with minimum down time.
  • Must be able to work in dusty conditions most of the time and very dusty conditions occasionally.
