Overview

 

Molson Coors is recruiting for the exciting position of State Senior Tax Analyst on our U.S. state tax team based in Milwaukee. The State Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for key components of our annual U.S. state income and franchise tax compliance process. This role also supports preparation and review of the Company’s estimated state tax calculations and quarterly income tax provision calculation, including forecasting and modeling of our state effective tax rate. Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the U.S. state income and franchise tax compliance process including preparation and review of tax returns, estimates and extensions in all 50 states and numerous local taxing jurisdictions.

 

  • Assist in the preparation and review of the Company’s quarterly and annual state tax provisions and accounting for uncertain positions related to our domestic operations, and support compliance with our internal accounting controls.

 

  • Assist in the forecasting of our interim period state effective tax rate as well as cash tax liability, including the preparation and review of tax entries and related explanations of key activity and variances for Company leadership.

 

  • Lead the determination of the Company’s U.S. state apportionment and income allocation, and key state tax adjustments and tax credit utilization.  

 

  • Research and analyze the implications of multistate income tax law changes and business developments, including state modifications to federal taxable income, filing methodologies, and income apportionment.

 

Identify opportunities to cultivate tax technology and standardize processes to transform state income tax processes. 

  • Guide the successful resolution of audits and inquiries into the Company’s U.S. state income and franchise tax positions by taxing authorities through preparation of information requests and liaison with auditing agents.

 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally within Tax and with the business to ensure compliance with state income and franchise tax regulations, optimize tax strategies, and provide valuable insights to support the decision-making process.

Required Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

 

  • At least 4 years of U.S. state income and franchise tax compliance experience with a large public accounting firm or large U.S. corporation  

 

  • Demonstrated experience with certain U.S. state income tax principles and concepts, including income apportionment, nexus, conformity, and credits and incentives

 

  • Basic “ASC 740” knowledge with specific awareness of deferred tax accounting, uncertain tax positions and valuation allowances

 

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP or similar ERP system and Corptax or similar income tax software

 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

 

Preferred Experience

 

  • Strong knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system and Corptax or similar income tax software

 

  • Experience analyzing U.S. federal and state income tax legislation

 

  • Experience managing audits and inquiries by U.S. state taxing authorities, including performing related diligence and drafting responses to information requests

 

  • Experience supporting the analysis and implementation of U.S. state tax planning opportunities

 

  • Basic knowledge of U.S. state indirect tax concepts, including understanding the property, excise and sales & use tax implications of business activity

 

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate tools, including data query and Power BI
