Position Overview:

The position is part of the overall Technical Accounting & SEC reporting team, responsible for supporting the organization in the preparation of financial statements and periodic reporting to the SEC as well as the evaluation and implementation of accounting and reporting standards for the business. This role supports the team with a variety of responsibilities including accounting research, resolving technical accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards, and reviewing contracts for accounting implications. The team is also responsible for providing accounting support and owning monthly close processes related to functions such as M&A, Treasury, FP&A, and HR. This role will also contribute to the SEC reporting process by assisting in the preparation of regulatory filings (10-Qs and 10-Ks). This position will have broad exposure to our business including interaction with other Finance teams and various other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting:

  • Ensure ongoing accounting and reporting compliance is supported through accounting research, memo preparation and resolving technical accounting issues for a variety of accounting areas.
  • Evaluate and implement new accounting pronouncements.
  • Review significant contracts for accounting implications.
  • Draft specific footnote disclosures for assigned areas for 10-Q/10-K preparation.

Functional Finance Support:

  • Partner with the assigned business function(s) and finance team(s) to enable compliant financial reporting
  • Own and operate business processes that contribute to financial reporting for the assigned business function(s)

SEC Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of disclosures throughout our 10-Q and 10-K
  • Prepare tie-outs within each of the footnotes owned by Technical Accounting
  • Assist with the preparation of SEC disclosure checklists for assigned area(s)

 

 

Education Level / Experience:

  • Relevant 4 year degree
  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting related experience
  • Prior public accounting experience preferred

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Exposure to public company (SEC-regulated) financial reporting
  • Exposure to accounting research tools and strong research skills
  • Strong ability to analyze complex contracts and business arrangements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment
  • Knowledge of close process, reporting, controls and disclosure requirements for SEC registrants
  • Demonstrated technical skills including: strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, strong communication skills (written and oral), ability to analyze financial statements and impacts, time management skills and ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and ability to quickly learn new technology and systems
  • Ability to work independently, high-degree of self-initiative and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Previous experience working with SAP, BPC consolidation tool or other financial reporting systems a plus
