In the role of Director - Technical Accounting working in Milwaukee, WI you will be part of the Controller team. You will be responsible for leading the global organization in the evaluation, implementation, and compliance with U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting standards based on evolving business activities and new accounting standards. . Further, this role is responsible for providing financial support and owning monthly close processes related to functions such as Debt, Derivatives, Pensions, Share Based Compensation, Equity, among others including accounting research, resolving technical accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards, and reviewing complex contracts for accounting implications. This role collaborates with key stakeholders in these areas like Treasury, HR, Legal, providing valuable business direction founded in U.S. GAAP accounting principles. This role is also accountable for the annual goodwill and indefinite lived intangible asset impairment testing process including collaboration with global stakeholders. This role also contributes to the SEC reporting process by assisting in the preparation of regulatory filings (10-Qs, 10-K, Proxy statement). This position will have broad exposure to our global business including interaction with other Finance leaders and teams and various other departments.
This position reports to Vice President Global Controller.
What You’ll Be Brewing:
- Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for two direct reports.
- Business parter and trusted advisor to various business functions and Finance teams to identify, collaborate and account for significant or complex corporate and business unit activities and direct the evaluation, research and conclusion of the technical accounting requirements for the recognition and disclosure in compliance with US GAAP and SEC accounting rules and interpretations for each issue.
- Formulating and ensuring the completeness of formal documentation of accounting positions and considerations, communicating current and on-going accounting and disclosure requirements, and question and issue resolution with ultimate alignment with external auditors. Accountable for the accounting of certain technical areas including debt, derivatives, pensions, goodwill and intangibles, and others.
- Evaluate and implement new accounting pronouncements.
- Lead quarterly accounting considerations meetings across the global business units and report summary of significant activity to the Disclosure Committee.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness for specific footnote disclosures for assigned areas for 10-Q/10-K preparation.
- Assist with the SEC reporting process, including preparation and review of disclosures throughout our 10-Q, 10-K, and annual Proxy Statement.
- Accountable for the annual goodwill/indefinite lived intangible asset impairment testing including collaboration with key stakeholders, completion of accounting research and documentation, liaison with valuation specialists, and coordination with external audit teams.
Key Ingredients:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting OR equivalent experience (4+ years) in the field of finance/accounting
- You have at least 10 years’ experience in public and/or corporate accounting
- Demonstrated strategic thought leadership and credibility in advising finance leadership in complex accounting matters.
- Exposure to public company (SEC-regulated) financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting research tools and strong research skills.
- Strong ability to analyze complex contracts and business arrangements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Proven ability to translate complex accounting considerations to business stakeholders in easily understandable manner.
- Knowledge of close process, reporting, controls and disclosure requirements for SEC registrants.
- Demonstrated technical skills including strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, strong communication skills (written and oral), ability to analyze financial statements and impacts, time management skills and ability to exercise sound professional judgment.

Pay and Benefits:
At Molson Coors, we’re committed to paying people fairly and equitably for the work they do.
Job Posting Total Rewards Offerings: $149,400.00 - $196,100.00 (posting salary range) + 25% target short term incentive + $30,000 + 600 Non-Qualified Stock Options target long term incentive + $23,000 on average spent on benefits per employee, including but not limited to health, dental, vision, retirement with above market employer match, wellness incentives and EAP + paid time off (including holidays, vacation days and sick days).
The posting range provided above for salary is what we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors that inform pay decisions including but not limited to the required work location, previous work experience, skill set and internal equity.
