In the role of Category Manager – Containers working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be part of the Procurement team. The Category Manager will be responsible for leading the category team covering multiple areas of purchases or a significant total spend (between $200M-$400M.)  This will include developing appropriate category strategies, sourcing strategies, negotiations, delivering cost savings and other financial metrics and managing supplier and stakeholder relationships.
 
You will lead departmental operations in Procurement towards the vision of a high performance team culture and drive change management initiatives to continually improve our process operations to meet World Class Operations Standards.

 

This position reports to the Procurement Director, Containers & Secondary Packaging and works closely with cross functional teams.

 

What You’ll Be Brewing:

 

  • Daily management and on-going development of team members within the category team
  • Manage suppliers, including scorecarding and active KPI monitoring
  • Responsible for managing the creation of category result objectives on a national level
  • Maintain an annual cost savings target of $3M-$5M per year
  • Lead negotiations and implementation activities and manage suppliers to enable end-to-end reviews to improve overall landed costs that contribute to sustaining annual savings within Category.
  • Responsible for monitoring risks and opportunities within the team’s category
  • Responsible for managing and reporting on category annual operating planning cycle, including yearly planning activities
  • Manage stakeholders and partner with senior level internal stakeholders to align on priorities and needs
  • Manages 3-5 categories of high complexity using strategic sourcing principles
  • Lead LRP Packaging Procurement projects within Category from Ideation to Concept for START projects, and through implementation for procurement managed initiatives
  • Understands relevant business priorities and needs
  • Responsible for managing stakeholder relationships with the NA leads for quality, packaging development, engineering, supply planning, project management, finance, etc.
  • Owns and oversees contract compliance once agreement is signed 

 

Key Ingredients:

 

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in Packaging or Procurement
  • Expert in category strategy, strategic sourcing, supplier management, spend analysis, and contract negotiation skills
  • Experience in beverage or fast-moving consumer goods
  • SAP experience is desired 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, but MBA or Masters is preferred
