The Headlines:   


In the role of Associate Pilot Brewer working in Chippewa Falls,WI you will work hand in hand with the Brew master to create the highest quality beer.  This position’s daily functions will shift daily from raw material handling to brewing, cellaring, packaging, cleaning/sanitizing, inventory management, bookkeeping, and troubleshooting.  The Associate Pilot Brewer will contribute to new beer creation from ideation to recipe formulation as well as a constant pursuit to perfect existing brands.

The Associate Pilot Brewer position has various responsibilities at the  Leinenkugel’s Pilot Brewery; principally operates 7 bbl brewery, cellar, and packaging. Hands-on responsibility for producing quality beer in a safe manner. Performs other brewery activities such as CIP’s, cleaning, and maintenance to maintain the brewery, cellar, and packaging according to GMP and hygiene standards.  Additionally, the position is expected to participate in beer culture events including tastings, tours, festivals, etc., behaving as the face of the company. The functions of an Associate Pilot Brewer will at times be performed under little or no supervision in a timely manner and with acceptable quality. The position will support the Brew master in accomplishing the brewery’s goals.

The Responsibilities: 

  • Complete brewing, cellaring, and packaging process in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintaining the brewery’s quality assurance and overall hygiene.
  • Actively engage in the review of processes and propose process, equipment, or automation improvements, to make the process and activities in the brewery the most safe and efficient as possible.
  • Actively engage in and contribute to new beer development and existing brand improvement.
  • Product, process, and equipment troubleshooting and problem solving internally.
  • Appropriate networking with suppliers, vendors and consultants.
  • Technical input into achievement of specs and standards.



The Other Qualifications:

  • Either a minimum two years of experience in brewing or brewing / science related field OR a Formal Brewing Education
  • Requires a high degree of knowledge and proficiency in the following areas: analysis, problem solving, critical thinking, mathematics, communication, presentation and writing and computer skills. Computer skills for compiling and analyzing data and report writing (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (Spread Sheets and Graphing), Microsoft Power Point, Photo Editor, Design of Experiments).
  • Understanding of the technical interrelationships of product, process, and raw materials to effectively make product quality, specification and compliance decisions.
  • Knowledge of brewing science technology and commercial processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of direct and in-direct brewing materials as it relates to new product development and existing brand improvement.
  • Brewing expertise creatively leveraged to provide:
  • A working understanding of brewing systems
  • Ability to effectively analyze critical information and data and sees underlying or hidden problems and patterns.
  • Generates alternatives and understands the impact they have on various aspects of the pilot brewing processes.
  • Looks beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answer
  • Brewing Chemistry.
  • Composition of materials and products.
  • Properties and interactions of traditional and novel ingredients and processing aids.
  • Influence product and process development, cost reductions and quality improvements.
  • Works safely, follows safe work practices and adheres to GMP and HAACP control guidelines.
  • Knowledge of direct and in-direct and brewing materials as it relates to beer development
  • Ability to train/teach technical procedures and processes to peers.
  • Ability to teach brewing science and process concepts
