The Headlines:  


As a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), your responsibilities include facilitating ART processes, events, and assisting teams in their pursuit of delivering value.  You have deep knowledge of Lean-Agile frameworks, especially the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).  You understand the opportunities and challenges of continuously aligning a large development program.  Your communication skill allows you to fluently interact with ART members, stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.  You understand the value and meaning of Agile metrics, how to interpret them, and how to influence change when the numbers suggest.  You have a solid understanding of how budgeting works in a Scaled Agile environment.  You are a continuous learner, eager to achieve yourself, and lead teams to higher levels of performance.


The Responsibilities:

  • Thought leader, driving innovative adoption and use of technology and methodologies. 
  • Partner with business and IT peers to understand and solve complex problems with sustainable, resilient, supportable solutions that meet enterprise guidelines and budget.
  • Teacher of Agile methods and frameworks, preferably SAFe.
  • Facilitator of challenging conversations, supporter of individuals and teams through conflict.
  • Guide people and teams on the ART to clear understanding of good processes and practices.
  • Deliver truth in a respectful and tactical way.  Courage to say “no” not over-commit the ART.
  • Negotiate agreements that are acceptable to all parties involved.
  • Expose problems and constraints to the organization and work together on a resolution. 
  • Use empirical data to help the organization determine opportunities and improvements.
  • Lead the ART by example with actions as well as words.  Follow through with commitments.
  • Deliver the message with tact.  Sensitive and aware to how the message can be received.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all communication channels. 
  • Quickly analyze a situation and organize the team around a solution.
  • Hold self-accountable.  Deals fairly with everyone.
  • Nurture the team’s understanding of Agile principles and practices through workshops, games, and presentations.
  • Understand the learning journey is never over.  Strive to continually build skills, knowledge, and experience.  Seek learning from many places: formal classroom, books, blogs, podcasts, seminars, colleagues. 


The Other Qualifications:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree, ideally in a related field.
  • You have experience with Lean-Agile frameworks, especially the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). 
  • You are an experienced Scrum Master with at least 5 years of experience using Scrum in your day to day work.  Ideally, you have a Scrum certification to back this up.
  • You love a challenge. You seek to include others to improve and expedite solutions to complex problems
  • You act with appropriate urgency to various market events and trends that require a quick turnaround in plans and strategy 
  • You are a motivated leader that can inspire others; you respect your commitments and are able to obtain optimal results from the team through respect and development
  • You have experience with Agile work management tools, such as Jira.
