The Headlines: 
In the role of Water Treatment Plant Operator working at the Coors Brewery, in Golden, Colorado, you will be part of the Plant Technical Services team, working at our Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Our utilities team is the lifeblood that keeps our brewery going. You will be responsible for the maintenance and reliability of our water treatment assets. The reliability of these assets ensures that we can be responsible stewards of our community, achieve our water permits and supply the Brewery, Malting and the entire Lower Valley the water they need.

The Water Treatment Plant Operator will perform the full range of skills required to properly operate, maintain, repair, and ensure permit compliance with the State of Colorado. These duties will include but are not limited to plant operation (Ozonators, Air Compressors, Pumps, DE (Slurry) Filters, Micro-Strainers, Chlorine, Sand filters), process control, sample collection, equipment operation and maintenance, and troubleshooting of the treatment process and equipment.

The Responsibilities: 

  • Operate and troubleshoot the treatment process, including sample collection, sample analysis, valves, pumps, motors, and electronics, including SCADA.
  • Assist lab technicians in the collection of water samples.
  • Perform field/laboratory tests and analysis to identify chemical, physical, and/or biological characteristics of Raw and Treated water.
  • Collect and document data from plant charts, gauges, and other instruments: perform calculations to ensure proper plant operations.
  • Maintain operating records and file reports as needed in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot the process and make necessary changes to ensure proper treatment.
  • Maintain and repair equipment as needed and helping with special maintenance.
  • Skills in a wide variety of tools and mechanical repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and repair if possible.
  • The ability to operate equipment (Forklift and other pieces of equipment if needed)
  • Chemical batching for water treatment.
  • Assist in all levels of operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water treatment facilities
  • Other duties as assigned.

  Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of Chemistry, Microbiology, mathematics, and hydrology
  • Knowledge of pumps, valves, motors, filters, backflow prevention devices, piping, and plumbing structures
  • Knowledge of chemical analysis and testing techniques
  • Knowledge of water treatment/Distribution process and the operation, maintenance, and repair of related equipment.
  • Computer Skills.
  • SCADA operation and understanding.
  • Strong attention to detail and legible handwriting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Biology, chemistry, and mathematics related to the water industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication (written and oral).
  • Equipment spot checks to ensure performance and make any repairs needed.
  • Assist in cross-training.
  • Ability to pass an initial medical evaluation to determine the ability to use a respirator
  • Ability to pass a respirator and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) fit test
  • Ability to wear a full-face, negative-pressure respirator and SCBA


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work environment may be high-paced and hazardous.
  • Work environment includes outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • This position requires the applicant to physically climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch walk, reach, push, pull, and other actions in a physically dangerous environment.
  • This position may be subjected to fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, oils, and moderate noises.
  • This position also requires the ability to frequent lifting of 20lbs. – 50lbs.


Education And/or Experience and Qualifications (Required)

  • High-school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Colorado Water Treatment Plant Operators Class D with the ability to obtain required Class A certification within MolsonCoors guidelines.
  • Aptitude for operating tools and equipment.

Job Posting Hourly Rate:  $35.26 - $43.25
