The Headlines:
In the role of a PC Specialist and Cans working at the Rocky Mountain Metal - Cans, you will contribute to the safe manufacture of quality beverage cans by performing Chemical Process responsibilities in the major functions of can line washer operation; wastewater pre-treatment operation; coolant systems; bulk chemical handling, storage, and distribution systems; deionized water systems; hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling; chemical spill prevention and response. The role maintains record keeping and reporting on operations including statistical quality and process control.
This role reports to the Sr Process Leader – Process Control.
The Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, control, and maintain the various systems.
- Perform tests and evaluations of the chemical solutions and equipment used in the systems, including titrations and other lab analyses.
- Perform and complete preventative maintenance and repairs on various pieces of process equipment, including, but not limited to washers, filters, pumps, etc.
- Be familiar and comply with all regulations and guidelines in the event of a chemical spill, upset or contamination. Includes notifications necessary to activate emergency response procedures. Maintain technician level spill responder certification.
- Maintain certification or updated training on applicable safety and environmental regulations, including but not limited to hazardous material handling, hazardous waste handling, confined space entry, respirator use, lockout tagout tryout, and technician level spill responder certifications.
- Must use all available chemical safety information in receiving, handling, and processing all chemical in the can production process. Be familiar with reading and understanding of SDS sheets. Be able to respond to questions regarding chemicals used in the facility.
- Participates in training required to maintain necessary skill level.
- Reviews and updates department procedures.
- Work closely with Operations, Technical Services, Quality, and Equipment Specialist teams.
- Contribute to structured problem solving to resolve safety, production, quality, and environmental issues and reduce future occurrences.
The Other Qualifications:
- Candidates must have High School diploma or GED.
- Understanding of chemical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of and experience with pressurized chemical handling systems, piping, valves, and pumps.
- Experience in hazardous chemical handling and statistical process control is desired.
