The Responsibilities: 

  • Supports Brewery Safety, Sustainability and Environmental initiatives:  Continually ensures safe practices and policies are followed by team members.  Leads commitment to safety through participation in and support of safety initiatives as identified.  Partners with teams and EHS to identify and highlight unsafe work practices and escalate/correct with a sense of urgency.
  • Leads operational shift teams:  Coordinates resources and coaches team to interface with resources on shift (quality, asset care, etc.)  Coordinates proper coverage for shift across lines, units and departments; in partnership with the People Starpoint.  Assigns job tasks/duties to shift team members.  Facilitates flow to work across unit/department and ensures effective communication across brewery.   Leads team members to carry out operator-based maintenance tasks and participates in pre/post maintenance meetings.  Coaches continuous improvement and leads problem solving.
  • Ensures daily production schedule is executed:  Reviews production schedule for changes and leads the team to execute any changes.  Coordinates beer and materials availability.  Escalates production problems to the Process Leaders.
  • Enables pre-shift (DDS) meeting:  Facilitates Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings to drive performance.  Coaches team on effective shift handovers, according to standards.  Ensures escalation practices/agreements are followed.
  • Enables Team Capability and Skills Development:  Partners with Sr. Process Leader and Training Specialist to implement training plans.  On-boards new team members according to the standard onboarding process.
  • Supports capital improvement projects/initiatives:  Provides knowledge and expertise to capital project planning and implementation.  Acts as liaison between capital project resources and brewing teams.
  • Tasks in Fermenting include:
    • Receiving hot wort from the Brewhouse, cooling and oxygenating to specification and transferring to Fermenting as well as the cleaning and maintaining of equipment related to this operation.
    • Receiving cold wort from Wort Cooling, pitching with yeast and transferring to a clean Fermenter.  Managing the incoming and outgoing yeast including quality and yeast performance related data.  Cleaning and maintaining of equipment related to this operation.
    • Transferring Green Beer to Aging, conducting quality sampling, cleaning and maintain of all equipment related to this operation.
    • Running the Prop area to ensure a steady stream of high quality, viable and bacteria/wild yeast free new generation yeast.  Cleaning and maintain the Propagation equipment.
    • Monitoring the inventory of the cellars, cooling area and reporting relevant data into LIMS, Prophecy, other data collection platforms and filling out paper log sheets.
  • Manages yeast streams and associated CIP processes to ensure the correct yeast is available for brewing. This includes the management of internal yeast needs, as well as assisting with external needs around the brewery network.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Process Leader

 

TheOtherQualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum).  BS or BA degree a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.  Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), prerequisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).  Good communication skills – written and verbal.  Strong influencing, coaching, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and relevant departmental applications (SAP, DeltaV, Bailey, PLC, QMS, SharePoint, etc).  Strong knowledge of Lean principles.  Technical Writing Skills.  2+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations.  2+ years’ experience in brewery operations.
  • Sr. Specialist work can be strenuous in nature requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling forces over 50 lbs. on a regular basis. The work environment is hot, cold, wet, noisy, and dusty at times.

Job Posting Hourly Rate: $38.20
