In the Line Maintenance Mechanic - Packaging role at Shenandoah Brewery working in Elkton, Virginia you will be part of the Packaging maintenance team. The Line Maintenance Mechanic - Packaging position performs maintenance, adjustment, and timing of operations equipment in the packaging area while continually investigating methods to improve the process, improve customer satisfaction, and produce quality products by performing the following duties.
This position reports to the Shift Lead of their assigned team and works closely with all departments within the brewery.
What You’ll Be Brewing:
- Responsible for performing maintenance, adjustments, and timing of packaging equipment and assisting with the set-up of equipment and training of operators. Equipment to include can, bottle, and keg filling equipment, palletizing equipment, pumps, heat exchangers, automated valves, and power distribution equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting defective equipment and making repairs as needed.
- Responsible for checking the operation of machinery after maintenance has been performed to assure proper performance.
- Responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections and completing maintenance work order assignments.
- Record information because of PM inspection or work order assignments.
- Responsible for overhauling and rebuilding equipment and component assemblies to established specifications, using such skills as welding, hydraulics, pneumatic, electronic and machine shop knowledge.
- Must perform maintenance welding, brazing, and soldering in the repair of parts as needed.
- Must fabricate and balance machinery and perform minor machine design changes.
- Must read and work from blueprints when necessary.
- Responsible for communicating with the team on all matters pertaining to the overall operation and function of equipment in the process area.
- Partners with Process Leader and Training Specialist to implement training plans.
- Onboards new team members according to the standard onboarding process.
- Responsible for communicating and coordinating activities with operations, quality, asset care, and other specialists as required.
- Responsible for assisting management with process changes and adjustments to standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for and dedicated to personal and team safety in relation to completion of tasks and duties.
- Responsible for and dedicated to quality in relation to completion of tasks and duties.
- Responsible for assisting in the implementation and workings of WCSC 2.0 while performing work.
- Partners with teams and safety council members to identify and highlight unsafe work practices and escalate/correct with a sense of urgency.
- Responsible for autonomous maintenance of valves, motors, pumps, filter, and gear boxes including lubricating all machinery, making necessary operational adjustments, and ensuring equipment is running efficiently producing a quality product.
- Performs housekeeping as required to maintain a safe and clean workplace.
Key Ingredients:
- High school education or equivalent
- Experience operating a forklift
- High level of mechanical aptitude/ability
- Prior knowledge of manufacturing equipment
- Knowledge of hand and shop tools such as drill press, hydraulic press, milling machine, lathe, alignment equipment and electronic and instrument test equipment
- Capable of welding with stick, tig, and gas
- 4+ years of mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance experience or a combination of trade school and mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance experience.
