Coors Distributing Company (CDC) is one of the nation’s leading beer distributors based out of Denver, CO. We are the critical link between our brewery suppliers that produce the beer and the retail outlets where they are sold, as well as the restaurants and bars where they are consumed. We were founded in 1971 and became MillerCoors LLC in 2008 as part of the joint venture between Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company, and we remain the only company owned distributor for Molson Coors Beverage Company. Major brand acquisitions occurred in January of 2010 making Coors Distributing Company one of the top 25 largest beer distributors in the country with over 30 suppliers, roughly 14 million cases per year, and nearly 400 employees. 

The Headlines:   
The Payroll Coordinator in Denver, CO, is responsible for the compilation and validation of payroll data, from numerous sources, for a bi-weekly payroll of approximately 400 employees with an annual payroll over $25 million.  Position also performs special payroll processing, special projects, and other accounting related functions.

This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

The Responsibilities: 

Payroll Systems Management (60%):

  • Manages and is responsible for the accurate processing of the independent CDC variable payroll on a bi-weekly basis, and with each payroll:
    • Audit of calculated wages to ensure system accuracy on every payroll.
    • Examination of Ceridian Time entry of hourly employees by supervisors, using extensive knowledge of system shift rules, rosters, time codes, user groups, and pay codes to ensure correct system functionality.
    • Process, monitor, and validate all employee changes, deductions, and garnishments
    • Validate through testing the alignment of data transfers between SAP, Ceridian payroll system, and Ceridian time system
    • Validate General Ledger Journal Entry to ensure accurate books and records.
    • Bank funding of payroll, tax deposits, and benefits
  • Responsible for end of year reconciliation of vacation for HR Systems
  • Special projects, including the validation of pension & 401(k) YTD data from Corporate Benefits for annual contribution, and monthly payroll related balance sheet reconciliations
  • Work directly with Corporate Payroll and Benefits to ensure CDC alignment with Molson Coors processes
    • Active participant in daily status calls with Molson Coors payroll department, weekly calls with Ceridian and weekly calls with HP.
  • Design and generate reports, as necessary or requested, from UKG, Kronos, Ceridian and Ceridian Time System

Internal Customer Service (30%):

  • Train new managers and supervisors on payroll processes
  • Assist employees with payroll related questions, manage badging within timekeeping system and user access within Ceridian. 
  • Work in partnership with the Human Resources department to monitor pay changes, job promotions and transfers to ensure accurate payroll
  • Conducts annual review and training of payroll expectations and processes 

Short Term Disability and FAMLI Claim Support (10%):

  • Manage supplemental pay for CO FAMLI Leave, staying updated on leave claim statuses, and return to work dates

Other:

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional holiday work and overtime to support business
  • Position requires working in the office at least part-time

 

The Other Qualifications: 

  • Must have at least 5 years prior payroll processing experience in an environment with hourly & exempt employees and variable pay components
  • Must have working knowledge of all Federal, state, and local payroll laws, pension, and health & welfare agreements in addition to State and Federal involuntary wage assignment & garnishments
  • Ceridian Payroll, Ceridian Time System, UKG, Kronos Dimensions and VIP system knowledge and experience preferred
  • Proficient in use of Excel
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision
  • Position requires complete confidentiality
  • Meeting bi-weekly payroll deadlines normally requires overtime and working on holidays occasionally
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain strict confidentiality

Job Posting Salary Range: (US/Colorado) $57,500 - $75,500
