The Headlines:    


In the role of Director - Innovations working in Chicago, IL, this individual will help build brands at Molson Coors, which means shaping culture and changing the way consumers enjoy alcoholic beverages.


This individual will be an Innovation Leader who will successfully lead the innovation strategy, owning segment vision and driving strategic direction and leadership buy-in all to help increase the top-line.  This individual will own the new product development process from concept to shelf, driving innovation projects for iconic brands as well as drive new brand development.  This individual will be responsible for overseeing the up-front research/consumer insights, concept and product development, packaging development, and initial business case development to set up successful commercialization. Responsibilities also include being a thought and culture leader within the innovation team, as well as a key partner to supply chain, helping manage and lead process and ways of working improvements.


This individual will champion initiatives, lead teams and manage agency partners and relationships, and manage and develop high performing teams. 


The Responsibilities: 


  • Defines strategic direction for beverage innovations based upon deep category knowledge, thoughtful consumer insights and competitive market analysis that translate into sustainable commercial success and business growth.
  • Ensures creative development across multiple marketing mix elements & platforms is aligned to strategies and positioning
  • Own major product innovation and activity across the enterprise from strategic platforms to ideation through development for NA & commercialization for US with a primary emphasis on improving brand equity, volume and margin. 
  • Partners closely with brand teams to align on platforms and direction of innovation pipeline.   
  • Attracts, leads, manages, and mentors employees in such a way to ensure retention, development, and superior performance of talent
  • Provide coaching and development of team members on a consistent basis
  • Provide annual and midyear reviews to each team member
  • Clearly communicates brand strategies, link to go-to-market strategies and applies them to creative development
  • Communicates brand strategies and initiatives with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Works closely with Brand leads in US & Canada to ensure innovation aligns with brand strategies
  • Works closely with ISC / R&D to bring for development & commercialization of new innovations
  • Works closely with sales on sell strategy & customer alignment


The Other Qualifications:  


  • 7+ years of related work experience
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree preferred in business or marketing
  • Three-tier distribution system experience is desirable but not required
  • CPG Marketing
  • Ability to connect marketing strategy to customer needs and execution
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Product / packaging development experience tied to innovation role
  • Experience developing innovation strategies
  • Strong people management skills & communication skills
