The Headline:

The Farm Supervisor is based in Center, CO, and is responsible for activities associated with the successful operation of the barley research farm including planning, organizing and leading crop production and rotations in order to achieve the highest quality production of research trials and seed increases by optimizing on-farm growing conditions.  The Farm Supervisor advances the program, in part, by embracing and enabling sustainable production of high performing barley varieties for Molson Coors. 

 


The Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and conducts essential farming operation, including the execution of planting, providing optimal growing conditions with nutrient and pesticide management
  • Maintains farm equipment for safe, optimum operation and extended life. Maintains farm facilities and property.
  • Schedules field spraying operations and maintains a state and federal certified pesticide applicators license. 
  • Provides support in the development of superior new barley varieties.  Leads trial maintenance (plot husbandry), spraying, mowing, and harvest preparations.
  • Assures the pure seed certification program by rogueing of fields, clean housekeeping habits for storage bins and all harvest equipment. Maintains farm as a pure seed operation.

  • Assures that all activities are carried out in the safest manner.

  • Provides supervision of contingent workers on site.

  • During off season, provide support to elevator and seed cleaning operations.

 

The Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Five years experience in farm management or agriculture related field
  • Ability to operate farm equipment
  • Possesses or has ability to obtain and maintain pesticide applicators license
  • Ability to operate seed cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of soil science
  • Understands irrigation techniques and irrigation equipment
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in dusty environments, as well as work with barley plants & grain

Job Posting Salary Range: $70,400 - $101,200
