Your Purpose

 

We’re now looking to recruit a Packaging Optimization Manager to join our brilliant Operations Team.

 

The Optimisation Manager for Packaging will be the 'go-to' expert for improving performance in packaging department. 

 

This is to be achieved by deploying Industry Best Practice in packaging standards alongside our Process Improvement Methodology

 

In addition, the individual will also support major capital projects and initiatives, acting as the subject matter expert (SME) for packaging technology, defining & validating the capabilities of said projects.  As such, the post will require an indepth knowledge of packaging which will enable them to support tender, factory acceptance testing, commissioning and validation.

 

The post-holder will also have the ability to seek and understand new technology and developments, ensuring potential improvements are part of our value optimisation and continual improvement cycle.  

 

As well as supporting efficiency and capacity, they will also ensure packaging equipment complies with all applicable laws and standards including safety, quality, sustainabiltiy and environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support Burton Brewery in achieving packaging KPI's, coaching the teams in understanding the losses on their lines and ensuring appropriate 90 day plans are created.  Where performance is not at target, the role will lead short term 'sprint' projects to get performance back to target.
  • Support implementation of focused improvement pillar tools such as UPS (Unified Problem Solving), Rate & Line Balancing and deliver coaching to the sites as needed.  Support the development of site line structure teams, especially Process Leads.
  • Ensure support of innovation, capital & R&D projects as appropriate as the SME for packaging equipment and technologies.    
  • Lead the “idea generation stream” for value engineering opportunities in packaging.  Manage the value eoptimisation (VOP) process for these opportunies, liasing with the Supply Chain Excellence team, suppliers and manufacturers to promote new ideas and technologies.  
  • Own and project other manage packaging optimisation and innovation projects as required.  

 

 

About You

  • Experience of packaging optimisation and large scale packaging equipment desing & implementation.
  • Technical competencies (job related): Strong knowledge of packaging processes, technology, engineering and equipment.  Detailed knowledge of Operational Excellence / Continual Improvement programes, industrial automation, SAP.  Awareness of legal requirements for packaging processes including health, safety, environment and sustainability.   
  • Managerial competencies: Strong analytical skills, good communicator.  Able to influence both senior stakeholders and engage at operator level.  Able to take bold decisions in full autonomy, acting with a sense of urgency.
  • International experience and/or responsibility beneficial but not mandatory.
