The Headlines:

 

In the role of R & D Brewer I working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be part of the Research & Development and Innovation team.  You will partner between Marketing and the Technical community translating New Product Development from concept through technical recipe development, pilot brewing, and scale up at the commercial level and ongoing creation of required tool box of technologies for innovation of future product pipeline.

 

In addition, you will consult with brewing staff and brewery management, provide input and evaluate engineering recommendations, implement brewery trials, recommend brewing system improvements, participate in start-ups of new/modified brewing equipment and products.

 

This position reports to the Senior Director, Research & Development and Innovation and works closely with the commercial and supply chain teams.    

 

The Responsibilities:

  • Work with Marketing Innovation and Brands Marketing teams to execute new product/liquid/brewing processing projects for current and new brand opportunities
  • Using subject matter knowledge (Brewing, Cider making, Fermentation alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages), deliver innovations, renovation opportunities and process optimization initiatives for business unit.
  • Integrates knowledge of beverage materials and equipment interaction in support of  successful and effective technical solutions
  • Works within a defined project management stage gate process through concept/feasibility/development stages and supports preparation of robust business cases and implementation plans.
  • Contributes subject matter expert on a defined innovation platform by keeping up to speed on industry developments  and communicating to the regional R&D team, therefore feeding ideas and best practices into the innovation funnel
  • Supports the Operations brewing network on process, quality, efficiency areas and troubleshooting as required.

 

The Other Qualifications:

  • You have practical experience in a Brewing or Quality supervisory position at a brewery that have  modern brewing technology
  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ of high-volume brewing experience.
  • You have specialized skills in Kosher or Organic certification, process control and automation, instrumentation, process engineering, brewery equipment design, quality control, international operations and hops processing
  • You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities.  You act with appropriate urgency to various market events and trends that require a quick turnaround in plans and strategy 
  • You have a thorough understanding of the technical interrelationships of product, process and raw materials to effectively make product quality, specification and compliance decisions
  • You exhibit knowledge of brewing science technology and commercial processes
