The Headlines: 

 

The MES Technician is a manufacturing IT technician role. This role is one of a few on an MES team responsible for front-line support of the brewery MES platforms and their connections to plant floor PLC / DCS control systems. MES Technicians work closely with Manufacturing Systems Engineers to support brewery IT software, hardware, and networks. Manufacturing IT support is both day to day, and project related. Thus the technician’s work is reactive (support calls and IT tickets), and proactive (projects and initiatives). Technicians become subject matter experts on manufacturing IT systems that are a mix of current and legacy technologies and platforms.

 

The Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide support for critical Manufacturing Execution Systems including: Data Historians (GE Proficy, OSI Pi), PLC / DCS OPC Interfaces (Rockwell, DeltaV, PlantIT), and SCADA / HMI Systems (GE Proficy iFix, FactoryTalk View).
  • Support and troubleshoot manufacturing controls and communication networks such as Ethernet, Asi-Bus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, and Serial protocols.
  • Utilize instrument / electrical technician troubleshooting skills to help maintenance technicians solve complex Packaging controls system (Rockwell PLC) and Process controls system (DeltaV, PlantIT) issues.
  • Support web-based tools for manufacturing system reporting (CSS, HTML5, VB, SSRS)

  

The Other Qualifications: 

 

  • Education / Certification: Post High School – Post Secondary Education in Electrical / Controls /Computer Science
  • Related Work Experience: 7 to 10 years – A minimum of 5 years as an Electrical / Controls Technician in a Packaging or Process manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess an understanding of modern technologies including electrical components, communication systems, and control systems.
  • Must possess an understanding of maintenance strategies for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Proficient in 4 to 8 critical manufacturing IT systems: Data Historian (GE Proficy or OSI PI); PLC Systems; DCS Systems; Delta V; SCADA Systems; Database programming & management (i.e. SQL).
  • Understanding of multiple end user computing platforms- thin clients (Dell Wyse terminals), virtual machines (VDI, VMware), PCs (Windows 10 OS).

Job Posting Hourly Rate: $42.24
