The Headlines: 

In the role of Director, Research and Development Technology Enablers working in Denver, CO, you will be responsible for driving the Brewing, Processing & Packaging technology agenda for the enterprise enabling both Disruptive Growth Initiatives and Business Unit innovation priorities. The successful candidate will sit on the R&D Leadership Team and lead the Brewing, Processing and Packaging Centers of Excellence (COE) globally (across BUs).  This position will coach and develop talent and create a robust and high impact COE within Molson Coors.  This role will encompass understanding consumer and business needs, opportunity identification, prioritization, technology design and validation. During each of these stages, the incumbent will be required to consider implications (local legislation, process capabilities, and customer/consumer preferences) across multiple priority markets (US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa).  


This position reports to the VP of Global Research and Development and works with across a multi-site, multi-country and multi-cultural environment.


The Responsibilities:


  • Lead the Brewing, Processing, and Packaging R&D COEs for the company, including: setting vision and strategy, establishing technical platforms to advance technology enablers through DGIs and innovation, and leading the industry scanning/scouting/assessment of technology enablers across the enterprise to unlock competitive advantage and speed to market.  Develop the IP strategy for emerging technologies and work with regulatory and legal teams to assess viability of potential claims.
  • Deliver new technology enables that enable both top and bottom-line growth, including revenue generation from new innovation and cost savings by leveraging new technology.
  • Own the Learning & Development curriculum for emerging innovation/technology capabilities across the R&D organization and develop strategy to build these new capabilities within the team.
  • Spearhead technology transfer and industry leading best practices into global/regional plans/processes/procedures to support the DGIs and innovation delivery. Partner with BU R&D Directors to ensure that all technology enablers are delivered with clear success measures and effective knowledge transfer into business applications/new product launches. Ensure that the COE work stream is fit for purpose at handover to business teams on all initiatives.

The Other Qualifications:


  • Demonstrable evidence of driving World Class Supply Initiatives to deliver on challenging objectives
  • You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities
  • You have Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, or Brewing
  • Even better, you are an experienced master brewer or other relevant university degree (PhD, MsC)  
  • You have 10 years of R&D experience in the food and beverage industry, leading novel technology programs.
  • You bring strong financial acumen and commercial awareness
  • Thorough understanding and track record of developing new products and packaging from concept through commercialization.
