The Headlines: 

The Finance Manager-Innovation position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the North America Innovation strategic plans for the organization, a key pillar of the revitalization plan.  The role is a direct financial business partner to the VP of Innovation (and associated team), and provides strategic and financial counsel to the team regarding NA innovation projects.  The role also is the key contributor to our external partnerships and manages all aspects of each P&L and the relationship from a U.S. financial contract management perspective.

You will also work closely with our finance counterparts on the Marketing Finance team, the FP&A team, the Procurement team, and other cross-functional teams supporting business process changes with a focus on the business impact to the North America Marketing team.  

 

 The Responsibilities:

  • Innovation Business Partner: Key strategic financial business partner to the VP of Innovation (and associated team) consulting on all financial aspects of:  NA Innovation pipeline, all individual innovation business cases, Innovation team G&A and Marketing budgets. 
  • Sits on Innovation Leadership team helping develop and execute on the Company’s Innovation strategy.
  • Delivering Financial Objectives: Subject matter expert on NA Innovation business cases, including partnering cross-functionally on all P&L line item assumptions
  • Shepards Innovation business cases through the START process to achieve approval for each step.
  • Budget Management, Reporting & Analytics: Support Innovation team in creating and managing financial plans through weekly/monthly reporting that incorporates variance explanations to AOP for management action. 
  • Support key Innovation and R&D Leadership teams in both setting and tracking innovation progress against NSR targets.
  • Partnerships Financial Management: Owns the system P&Ls for key partnership brands, including all the processes and governance around planning, forecasting and ensuring the financial spirit of the contract is achieved for both companies. 
  • Develops relationships and works with internal and external stakeholders to optimize profitability options while ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Drives efficiencies in reporting and transactional work

 

 The Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent applicable experience; CPA preferred
  • 8 or more years of progressive Finance leadership experience; prior experience in corporate accounting/financial reporting preferred
  • Experience managing budgets (planning, forecasting & analyzing)                         
  • Strong commercial acumen, ability to provide insights to improve business profitability                             
  • Express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively; listens to and responds appropriately to others.  Presents ideas and recommendations in ways that influence the beliefs and decisions of others and inspires them to action.  Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization as well as will top leaders of partner brands.                         
  • Ability to build and manage key partner external relationships which deal with high levels of complexity; must also be able to influence partners                       
  • Use a discipline process to define problems, identify root causes, evaluate data from a variety of sources, recognize patterns, generate alternative solutions, identify potential unintended consequences, and recommend the best solution.                            
  • An organized thinker who can motivate, inspire and enlist individual and team support toward achieving a desired objective, while building disciplined financial and commercial capability.  Once the vision is defined, must have the ability to act as a change agent by communicating a compelling and inspired message to rally support throughout the teams.                           
  • Enjoys working hard and looks for challenges and new opportunities to learn.  Able to act and react with speed even if limited information is available.  Not afraid to take charge of a situation when trouble comes; can overcome resistance and take unpopular stands when necessary.                                
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles pricing, forecasting, US GAAP, and maximizing commercial benefits.                                
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
