Marketing Controller - Cider

 

Let’s be honest, how many job adverts have you read that talk about such an “exciting and unique opportunity”? Safe to say, probably a few. Then when you read a little further it’s probably similar to every other role you’ve been looking at. We won’t say that for this role, you can decide for yourself, just read on. You’ll head up the branding activity for our entire cider portfolio including Aspall Cyder, Rekorderlig, Sharp’s Orchard, and Carling Ciders (as well as others to come…). As the controller, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of the commercial brand strategy, both in-year and longer term. Leading a team of five, directly and indirectly, you’ll be based out of our new offices in the centre of London.

With brands such as Pravha, Staropramen, Aspall and Blue Moon there will be plenty of activity to get stuck into. Reporting into the Premium Brand Director, you’re going to have a lot of autonomy for the cider portfolio branding, maximising your budget to get the most out of the cider brands within your remit. A large part of your role will also be to manage the partners within two of the bigger brands, Aspall and Rekorderlig. Aspall is caked in heritage, being a 300-year old business acquired in 2018. Rekorderlig is a brand we have full distribution rights in the UK, and you’ll liaise with the Swedish business on all contractual matters.

 

About you:

  • We're not expecting you to be a cider expert, but you'll be showing us you're keen to get under the skin of the cider market, and immerse yourself in that world.
  • A proven brand builder, with experience leading a brand through growth activity, beginning to end. Cider is the largest single incremental growth contributor to the UK, you’ll have the chance to be at the forefront of that.
  • With a varied team, you’ll exhibit strong technical leadership with the ability to develop your people into proficient marketing professionals.
  • Managing influential people will be important, your communication and influencing skills will be second to none.
  • You’re a longer term thinker and can show strategic agility and thought leadership that will lead the direction of our cider portfolio and influence the organisation.
  • There are a number of contractual relationships to nurture. You have experience in looking after large, complex agreements and seeing them through.
