Legal and Corporate Affairs Counsel, Export & License, EMEA APAC
Location:   The UK

This role will operate in a hybrid model, meaning two days will be in the office located in Burton-upon-Trent and three working remotely.  Includes international travel at short notice.  

Reports to:  Senior Legal Counsel, Export and License

Your Purpose as Legal & Corporate Affairs Counsel you will provide legal support to the Export and License (E&L)team across EMEA & APAC.

Export and License is the 'growth engine' for our business. As such the role supports various projects, new distribution or license agreements, contract manufacturing and marketing/sponsorship deals, servicing the existing portfolio of agreements as well as  various procurement/sales agreements, including  support on any M&A/Joint venture type projects.  Many of the agreements are governed by English law and are in English or dual language. 

 

Some key responsibilities will include also:

•  Delivering solutions orientated, commercial and timely advice to key stakeholders to the Export and License team.

•  Coworking with the senior leadership team on the internal communications strategy and particularly working alongside the HR Director and divisional directors. 

•   Negotiating and drafting distribution and license agreements.

•   Providing labelling advice.

•   Undertaking compliance checks and ensuring that compliance procedures are followed

•   Building effective business partnering relationships.

•   Supporting on complex transactions and projects

•  Assisting in delivering legal and compliance training to support the license/export team more effectively.

•   Supporting (and where appropriate takes the lead in) the implementation of global tools, documents and training to support the Export and License Team.

•  Focusing on continual improvement to ensure templates remain fit for purpose, consistent with best practices and enables Molson Coors to do business effectively.  In particular supporting the artificial intelligence contract creation project.

•   Managing external legal resource and budgets for their own projects.

 On the corporate affairs side (20% of role): business partner with HR and central Corporate Affairs in area of sustainability, produce regular internal comms and articles, design and support of CA strategy for E&L with support from LCA Director and HR Director of E&L.

 

 

If you have the following … we want to hear from you!
 

 

  • No less than 6 months to four (4) years PQE as a solicitor (alternatively significant time spent as a paralegal may be counted towards PQE) and hold a current practising certificate. Strong academics and solid training and experience gained in a reputable commercial law firm, plus some in house experience. Commercial contracts experience essential.
  • Sales, marketing, and competition law experience preferred.
  • Commercial acumen, strong written and oral communication skills, advocacy skills, legal research skills and management skills.
  • Energetic, passionate, and positive; able to thrive in fast-paced environment. Acquire and maintain business knowledge to contribute to strategy. Ability to learn and flex between legal and corporate affairs work.
  • Goal oriented, flexible and able to re-prioritise as demands change
  • Team player, diplomatic and adept in dealing with energetic and demanding clients within tight timelines.  
  • Creative, problem-solver with ability to operate and influence effectively across different cultures.
