The Headlines:    

Six Pints Collective is currently seeking a Unit Manager – Brewmaster to join our Brewing team at our brewery based in Creemore. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Ontario & West Canada, the role of Unit Manager – Brewing is to protect the integrity of our products by setting high standards for quality and freshness; and by putting in place personnel, policies and procedures which ensure those standards are met. Working in collaboration with other departments within the brewery, along with our Commercial function, this role is focused on meeting the highest standards to achieve ongoing customer and consumer satisfaction with our craft brands.  

 

The Responsibilities:  

The duties of the Unit Manager – Brewing is a vital role to the success of our brewing operation and consist of, but not limited to, the following:  

  • Oversee production planning and scheduling for brewing, filtration, and staff management (including vacation schedules) using SAP Business 1 and Orchestrated Beer.  

  • Manage all aspects of brewing processes including yeast management, fermentation, dry-hopping, filtration, and raw materials inventory and procurement.  

  • Establish and monitor key process indicators, troubleshoot process issues, and drive continuous improvement.  

  • Lead new brand development, innovation, and formulation or process changes.  

  • Collaborate with Quality department to set and maintain product specifications, monitor quality control, and implement corrective changes based on QC data.  

  • Design and implement training programs for brewing staff and serve on HACCP, traceability/recall, and internal audit teams.  

  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained within the brewing department through regular communication, training, and incident management.  

  • Maintain the physical plant in ‘Tour Ready’ condition, ensuring food safety and compliance with environmental regulations, including water extraction and wastewater management.  

  • Lead capital projects, from concept ideation to commissioning, and consult on plant improvements to enhance product quality and productivity.  

  • Manage a team of 18 employees, handle hiring and development with HR, and maintain customer service standards.  

 

The Other Qualifications:  

  • Authentic leader who values and respects differences, fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration that drives team success.  

  • Degree or diploma in a science-oriented discipline; brewing credentials or technical brewer certification (strong asset). 

  • 10+ years of experience in beer manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role. 

  • Experience in brewery laboratory and/or finance is an asset.  

  • Experience in managing teams in the consumer-packaged goods industry is an asset.  

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database applications for production scheduling, reporting, and analysis.  

  • Basic Windows operating environment skills and ability to learn new software.  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to provide clear direction and maintain SOPs and reports.  

  • Public speaking experience is an asset.  

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to consider all variables when making decisions.  

  • Take ownership of outcomes, acting with integrity and holding yourself and others accountable for results.  

  • Proven troubleshooting skills and a passion for continuous learning and actively seek opportunities to grow your knowledge while supporting the development of your team.  

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
