The Headlines:  


This role is responsible for supporting and coordinating the HR function across the Toronto Brewery. Specifically, some of the key responsibilities will include driving consistency in the administration of the HR function across the Brewery through the development of consistent processes and procedures.


This position reports day to day to the HR Manager to ensure alignment with departmental needs and works closely with the HR Business Partner to ensure a consistent employee relations environment. The position also works closely with a variety of operational business units to provide support and ensure HR initiatives are fully implemented.


The Responsibilities:

  • Manages the centralized payroll team and provides support and direction to the team.
  • Supports case management through the drafting of letters in support of various HR programs (e.g. accommodation, discipline, disability etc).
  • Coordinates, develops maintains processes across the HR function.
  • Leads the Absenteeism Management Program with quarterly responsibilities to generate reports and support Leaders and stakeholders in addressing non-culpable absenteeism issues. 
  • Identifies, develops and maintains necessary job aids, presentations and supporting materials across the HR function to support the business.
  • Develops and maintains reports, charts and tables to support HR analytics and drive evidenced based decision making across the business.
  • Administers the grievance process throughout the grievance life-cycle, including maintaining grievance database, managing grievance files, organizing and preparing for grievance hearings and reporting.
  • Manages HR calendar for all Employee Experience functions, including timing, planning and deliverables.
  • Coordinates local reward and recognition programs.
  • Facilitates general HR training including new hire orientation.
  • Manages first line employee communications to address employee inquiries.
  • Participates in change management activities as required, ensuring the successful implementation of new practices.
  • Assists with general administration concerning Union/Employee inquiries.


The Other Qualifications:

  • Highschool Diploma
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience of HR experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in lieu of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to work with, and present to all levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgement and employ strong reasoning skills
  • Capability to analyze complex information requests and determining complex trends
  • A highly organized, motivated and energetic individual with the ability to quickly take responsibility for initiatives and produce results.
  • Good project management skills, with a keen business sense and a focus on “adding value’ to the organization
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to create and modify SharePoint Sites
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive data
  • Kronos timekeeping system experience is an asset
