Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, preferably in a technical program.
  • Successful completion of a current Ontario license for Journeyman Plumber 306A or Pipefitter 307A. A 307A steamfitter license is also acceptable.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience as a licensed Journeyman Plumber and Pipefitter in the maintenance of building plumbing and heating systems, preferably in an industrial environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting specifications, drawings, blueprints, and diagrams, for building plumbing services.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Plumbing code.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed established procedures and methods to perform job duties.
  • Ability to prioritize the order in which work orders are completed.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Follows company’s safety protocols and procedures.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fixtures and fittings used for various liquid distribution, disposal, and gas distribution according to plumbing and gas codes.
  • Installs and repairs piping valves and fittings made of metals such as iron, steel, lead or copper and non-metallic materials, such as plastic.
  • Completes bills of material, estimates, sketches, and other documentation as required.
  • Ability to work in undesirable and disagreeable conditions such as dust, dirt, fumes, extreme temperatures (excessive cold or heat) and potential hazards, etc.
  • Must be capable of heavy lifting and other strenuous physical activity.
  • Must be willing and able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing.
  • Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces, work on scaffolds and elevated equipment.
  • Must demonstrate a record of attendance and dependability.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Performs regular facility equipment and systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime.
  • Communicates and records observations about facility equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair.
  • Monitors facility by conducting facility walkthroughs, equipment and system monitoring and inspection.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment and building systems.
  • Receives, tracks, monitors, and reports status of maintenance and repair work within service maintenance management database (SAP).
  • Works with subcontractors on equipment repair as required.
  • Accurately maintains/completes all equipment logbooks and maintenance records as required.
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained.
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related project work.
  • Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection and any other applicable requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
