The Headlines:
In the role of Category Manager based in Toronto, you'll be part of the Canada’s elite Category Management team, with colleagues located in both Toronto and Montreal.
You will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Customer Solutions, a veteran of Category Management who hails from small-town Quebec. He looks forward to meeting you and wishes you luck trying to find his hometown on a map. His subject-matter expertise is exceeded only by his commitment to support his team members, helping them become their best personal and professional versions of themselves.
- Coach: Instruct and inform your colleagues to help them become masters of Category Management.
- Builder: Develop and deploy innovative tools to help the sales team showcase the benefits of Molson products.
- Storyteller: Craft compelling sales stories that inspire our retailers to stock their shelves and displays with Molson products.
- Market Trends Expert: Be the go-to person for understanding and explaining consumer trends, market dynamics, and category insights.
The Responsibilities:
- Develop critical insights and analytics to drive customers’ beer/cider/ RTD categories, while brilliantly capturing a disproportionate share of growth
- Provide understanding of category and channel insights to sales teams through syndicated and internal data, demonstrating how those insights align with retailers’ strategies and business goals
- Champion category capability development and solutions for sales teams
- Regular in-market work to evaluate effectiveness of plan implementation as well as identify retail volume/profit opportunities
- General performance reporting – track, measure, and communicate results
- Though the role itself is quite cerebral, being part of this team also involves remembering that we sell beer – and it’s okay to have fun while doing so responsably!
The Other Qualifications:
- You have at least 5-8 years' progressive experience in category management in consumer packaged goods or direct store delivery industries
- You're an entrepreneur at heart. You love taking the initiative and leading projects that add value to the sales team and customers.
- You're curious. You enjoy testing new tools and developing your skills and sharing them with your colleagues.
- You have fun merging complex databases using your tech talents to create impactful insights.
- You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of business priorities.
- You react with appropriate urgency to various market events and trends that may require a quick pivot in plans and strategy.
- You are confident and competent. You are diplomatic, professional, and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships.
- You are serious about results and take pride in having a proven track record of delivering them.
- Proficiency in the following: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and any database software.
- Nice-to-haves include proficiency or experience in the any of the following: JDA, Grocer Loyalty Programs (Dunnhumby, LDIA, Circana), Nielsen Discover, Tableau, Geomatic, Alteryx.
