The Headlines:   

In the role of Sr. Pension Specialist working in Longueuil, Quebec you will be part of the Total Rewards team.  You will be the primary person responsible for the day-to-day administration of the various Canadian national pension plans. 


This position reports to Director, Benefits who is based in the US and works closely with the Total Rewards team, HR business partners, Finance department and external actuaries and consultants in Canada.


The Responsibilities: 

  • Independently manage and supervise the administration of the company's Canadian defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans as well as the various supplemental pension plans across Canada for all of our employee groups.
  • Act as an expert and provide stellar customer service to answer questions about retirement to employees, retirees, HR business partners or union representative.
  • Manage contributions during a leave of absence (salaried + unionized employees), Coordinate employee contribution corrections with payroll provider and GBS.
  • Coordinate financial education opportunities with outside vendor partner
  • Work directly with plan actuary, OCIOs & consultants to execute special projects as directed by the Canadian Pension Committee. You will be an active member of various pension related Subcommittees & Committees. This will involve preparing information, presenting information and taking meeting minutes. You will also participate in the US subcommittee & Committee to gain exposure to the entire North America retirement strategy.
  • Complete various administrative tasks related to plan funding, invoice processing and completing required governmental filings on time and accurately.
  • Analyze costs/savings in business decisions during collective bargaining agreement negotiations, reorganizations, sales & acquisitions, etc
  • Ensure integrity of the databases with our various administrators and collaborate with the various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of the information (Payroll vendor, HR system, etc. 


The Other Qualifications: 

  • You have at least 7 years experience in administering employer pension plans 
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Very good knowledge of employee benefit programs and defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, as well as laws and regulations related to Canada
  • You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities
  • You build relationships and collaborate to get to the desired outcome
