The Headlines:

In the role of Senior Financial Analyst, you will be part of the Commercial Finance team. In this role you will provide finance support to various functions inside and outside of finance for budgeting, planning/forecasting, reporting and analysis in a variety of areas.


This position is based in Montreal and reports directly to the Director of Commercial Finance for Eastern Canada and works closely with our sales organization.


The Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and communicate business results, including variance analysis of actual spend versus budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Participate in the production and communication of operational performance analysis (volume / rate / mix analysis), profitability analysis by province, segment, customer and product.
  • Responsible for operational expense tracking, variance analysis and explanations.
  • Production of business cases and ROI analysis supporting commercial agreement renewals.
  • Ensure accurate customer pricing, rebates and other elements impacting customer billings. Assist in resolving escalated customer receivable issues.
  • Ensure the enforcement of global and local finance policies and internal controls and documentation of standard operating policies.
  • Work with business partners to develop and consolidate monthly forecasting and annual budgets.
  • Use financial analytics to develop insights and recommendations to help drive business results.
  • Educate commercial team on financial acumen, local finance policies and procedures.


The Qualifications:

  • You have a university degree with (or working towards) accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • You have 2-3 years relevant work experience
  • You are bilingual
  • You have experience in businesses with high volume of transactions, strong Excel skills, and an understanding of financial software (SAP preferred)
  • You have strong analytical skills, attention to details, and critical thinking capabilities, and you can effectively work in a team environment
  • You are confident, professional, and an effective communicator capable in developing and maintaining excellent relationships within the business
  • Experience in the consumer goods industry is an asset
