The Headlines:  

 

In the role of Director, Government Affairs you will be part of the North America Legal and Corporate Affairs team.  The person will deliver bottom-line cost benefits through developing strategy for Western provincial issues, regulatory and legislative solutions and coordinate across the legal and commercial teams to best serve the business. In order to be successful in this role, the candidate will be able to build and leverage relationships, use their strong political acumen, and translate governmental issues into executable strategies.

 

The Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Molson Coors government affairs strategy in the Western provinces, delivering favorable outcome on legislation and regulation in areas of advertising/marketing, trade practices, brewer/wholesale issues, excise taxes, and alcohol issues
  • Develop and plan public policy strategies to support brewery initiatives, including expansion and modernization projects and environmental footprint
  • Broaden and deepen our relationships and connections to Provincial regulators and legislators on public policy issues, including alcohol taxes, consumption policies, marketing guidelines, operational issues, and others
  • Build strong relationship networks among Provincial government affairs communities and networks

 

The Other Qualifications:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in Canadian federal/provincial government affairs, public affairs, or political advocacy
  • Experience with Provincial legislative and regulatory processes
  • Ability to manage outside consultants and lobbyists
  • Strong political acumen that understands the intersection of policy and politics, especially in a highly regulated industry
  • Political campaign experience preferred
