The Headlines:   

We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Manager – Credit and Collection to oversee credit and collection operations. Based in Montreal and reporting to the Director of Commercial Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer enrollment in pre-authorized payments, strictly enforcing the Canadian credit policy, optimizing collection processes, handling disputes, and supervising a dedicated team.

 

The Responsibilities:

  • Credit and Collections Management: Manage customer enrollment in the pre-authorized debit system and ensure proper follow-up of the process. Enforce and uphold the Canadian credit policy in collaboration with our shared services department. Oversee credit and collections-related escalations and disputes (order blocks, payment terms, credit limits, and risk category reviews).
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze open accounts daily and identify corrective actions. Prepare monthly forecasts for accounts receivable and cash flow. Review and prepare provisions for doubtful accounts. Approve bad debt write offs.
  • Audit and Compliance: Handle audit requests related to the Order to Cash cycle. Collaborate with the legal department and collection agencies on formal notices, legal proceedings, and bankruptcy cases.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in collection processes, customer account creation, and cash management. Conduct the annual review of the Canadian credit policy and the semi-annual review of customer credit limits. Evaluate and optimize practices within the shared services collections department.
  • Team Management: Supervise a team of two employees responsible for account reconciliations, managing proof of delivery (archiving), processing customer claims, and check deposits).

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in Accounting or Finance.  
  • You hold a CPA designation – An asset.
  • You have 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, particularly in collections and credit, as well as in personnel management.
  • You are fluent in English and French.
  • You have a strong knowledge of credit policies, receivables management, and the order-to-cash cycle.
  • You possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • You have outstanding communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • You and highly proficient with standard tools used in this function (MS Office Suite, SAP/BW).
  • You have a thirst for learning – you are always looking for ways to grow and help others grow.

Job Posting Total Rewards Offerings: $86,100.00 - $113,000.00 (posting salary range) + 13% target short term incentive + $11,000 on average spent on benefits per employee, including but not limited to health, dental, vision, retirement with above market employer match, wellness incentives and EAP + paid time off (including holidays, vacation days and sick days).
