Role Overview:

Responsible for managing global, typically complex projects and / or large divisional projects to achieve business objectives and deliver business benefits, ensuring that risks are identified and managed appropriately, and objectives are achieved within budget, within time & to required quality.


What You Will Be Accountable For:

  • Plays the lead project management role on global, typically complex projects and / or large divisional projects.  Takes responsibility for the project plan development, definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects, ensuring that realistic project, quality and risk plans are prepared and maintained and that a project change control procedure is in place.
  • Leads one or more project teams; allocating and monitoring tasks, motivating staff and appraising individual performance on the project.  Manages a team of information technology professionals to deliver a portfolio of projects.  Provides input to managers in establishing accountabilities and providing feedback for managers on the performance of team members.
  • Supports PMO Manager to ensure we continue to evaluate, monitor & improve project management process.  Ensures own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and appropriate action taken.
  • Ensures that we continue to improve how projects are managed, in order to minimise risks to the MCBC arising from projects, maximise benefits to be realised from future projects and assure the continued development of the project management organization
  • Monitors & controls resources, revenue & capital costs against project budget & facilitates management of expectations of all project stakeholders.  Establishes & manages program & project budgets as appropriate to ensure forecast consistency & annual plan compliance

If You Have The Following…We Want To Hear From You!

  • BA/BS or Professional Qualification
  • 6-8 years working experience in information technology or related business management experience, with operating at a managerial level a plus.
  • Broadly skilled in information & communications technology. Has comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life-cycles and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Expert in Progress Reporting, Project Planning and Control Techniques.
  • Proficient in Project Management, Project Risk Management.
  • Accountable for results.
  • Possesses analysis and decision-making skills and an enterprise mindset.
  • Strong communication skills. French Canadian preferred.
  • Travel will be required – circumstances will vary based on requirements – Estimate 25% to 50%. 
  • Preferred: Project management certification such as PMP; Prince 2 or other recognized project/program management certification.
