Job Description: Lead the daily shift operations of the Fraser Valley Brewing Department.  Do this by supporting the team’s continuous development, working at both the situational and systemic levels to promote and propagate the brilliant execution of production goals & attainment of KPI targets.  Lead teams to sustainably deliver continuous improvement and achieve consistent results against plan.  Achieve this through a process of involvement, performance management and personal accountability and leadership.  Duties and tasks include but are not limited to: team leading and performance management for unionized hourly employees, scheduling/planning of production, SAP data management, technical troubleshooting, materials management, conducting shiftly team meetings, EHS risk mitigation and reporting, quality management, and internal customer service tasks.

 

Team Leaders may also lead projects for a functional area; indirectly managing staff for projects through functional leadership. Decisions are generally tactical; implementing programs, policies and procedures in a defined area of accountability. Coordinate efforts and resources across teams to achieve shared goals.  Be flexible, nimble and able to work shifts as needed to cover off business needs.  Be an ethically unshakeable steward, promoting a culture of problem solving, inclusion, and a passion for our product.

 

The Responsibilities

  • Challenges the expected by providing a strategic perspective, taking smart risks and using business acumen to make sound decisions.
  • Inspires, engages, and develops others to attain business and personal goals.
  • Takes total accountability for achieving exceptional business results with a sense of urgency
  • Operates with a focus on both quality and efficiency, guiding and monitoring team members in their adherence to WCSC 2.0 principals and processes to optimize the team's performance as measured by PQCDSM
  • Guides, develops and monitors the team to utilize WCSC 2.0 Autonomous Maintenance practices to increase equipment reliability and assure equipment runs when scheduled
  • Guides, develops and monitors the team to utilize WCSC 2.0 Focused Improvement practices in effective systemic problem solving, developing countermeasures and making solutions stick.
  • Guides, develops and monitors the team to utilize   WCSC 2.0 EH&S practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Effectively supports team and team members' development and performance through training, facilitation and coaching support.
  • Provides daily/ongoing direction and guidance to team members through team meetings and effective ongoing two-way communication
  • Models, encourages and facilitates the ability of team members to work effectively together, and quickly identifies and addresses team conflict in a manner that enables team members to learn from the experience.

 

The Other Qualifications:

  • General certificate in Brewing  preferred or must obtain followed by Diploma in Brewing
  • Sound process knowledge of Brewing through 5 years or more experience
  • BA/BS degree in business or technical preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees in a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable on all relevant hygiene, health and safety legislation (including environmental), and on safe working procedures
  • Demonstrates leadership maturity, self-awareness, confidence and courage in adapting to the local, regional, and global needs of the business

  • Ability to work rotating shifts
