The Headlines:
The Senior Manager, Craft Ontario/West, reporting to the General Manager of Toronto Brewery, oversees operations at Creemore Springs, Granville Island, and Stackt Breweries, providing senior leadership across Brewing, Packaging, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and Safety. This role also includes site responsibility for Granville Island Small Batch, Belgian Moon, and Stackt, and involves regular collaboration with the Senior Manager, Quebec/East Breweries.
The Responsibilities:
- Senior Leadership: Ensure compliance with MCC standards while aligning Supply Chain and Commercial teams to meet targets, drive innovation, engage employees, report performance, and support long-term strategic growth aligned with market trends.
- Environment Health & Safety (EH&S): Oversee EH&S across accountable areas by staying current with legislation and best practices, while leading site Health & Safety communication, training, enforcement, inspections, investigations, and improvement plans in alignment with MCC policies.
- Quality: Oversee the Brewery Quality Assurance Supervisor, ensuring access to necessary lab resources and establishing performance metrics for quality and lab operations.
- Production: Ensure clear communication and fulfillment of Safety and Quality expectations while coordinating with Commercial and Marketing teams to define and deliver timely production requirements for beer quality, volume, and scheduling.
- Finance: Lead budget planning and achievement in collaboration with Finance, while coaching cost center owners on cost-savings initiatives, spend tracking, forecasting, gap analysis, and driving financial performance to meet targets.
- Maintenance: Collaborate with Maintenance and Finance Managers to establish the maintenance budget, enhance plant reliability, optimize the Preventative Maintenance strategy, and ensure proactive support for production operations.
- Capital Project Management: Oversee capital planning, approvals, and execution for Ontario/West conducting long-range planning and collaborating with MCC corporate staff to manage projects and capital budgets.
The Other Qualifications:

- You have a Degree or diploma at a community college or post-secondary institution required (formal brewing accreditation is a definite asset).
- You have at least 10 years’ experience in beverage manufacturing environment, including at least 5 years at management level.
- You are comfortable in a multi-disciplinary leadership team environment with ability to mentor and develop direct reports.
- You demonstrate the ability to focus on big picture objectives and concepts while delegating functional tasks to direct reports.
- You are proficient in Word and Excel and familiar with database applications necessary for maintenance of production schedules, reports, and analysis.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You can effectively communicate verbally with fellow employees and operators daily to give direction, provide leadership, and understand concerns, and are able to write clearly and concisely to formulate and maintain standard operating procedures and reports.
