The Headlines:   

In the role of Head Brewer, working in you will be part of the Chilliwack, BC, you will be responsible for the leadership of plant and people resources within the Brewing department on a day-to-day basis, to ensure the achievement of the brewery’s vision and business plan in terms of value, quality, service, and people.  


You will lead departmental operations in our brewing department towards the vision of a high-performance team culture and drive change management initiatives  


This position reports to the General Manager and works closely with the entire brewery staff, including the Packaging, Quality, Finance, Maintenance, and Customer Service teams. 


The Responsibilities: 

  • Sit as a member of the Brewery Leadership Team bringing insight, passion, diligence, and dedication to making FVB the top performing Brewery in the network
  • Ensures a safety-first culture is always present and is never compromised

  • Is a role model for other employees in their department and others
  • Direct the continuous operation and improvement of the Brewing department in accordance with established schedules, practices, and procedures 
  • Lead brewery innovation initiatives to allow the Brewery to maximize out put
  • Work closely with the Quality team to ensure all goods coming from the Brewery meet the highest of standards.
  • Develop and maintain a brewing program that maximizes through put, and leverages the technology in our state-of-the-art brewery
  • Order all direct and indirect brewing materials as required to meet daily operational needs, including interface with vendors to resolve delivery and quality issues as they arise 
  • Ensure all finished packages are analyzed to meet established specifications, and plan for and ensure that all quality standards and procedures are adhered to 
  • Prepare and maintain accurate production and inventory records for reporting and internal use 
  • Participate in labor negotiations, administer plant wide job postings, and work with Union Stewards to resolve grievances, or elevate as necessary  
  • Leads team performance, talent, and career management and creates a culture of employee engagement
  • Develop the next generation of Brewing Leaders at all levels


The Other Qualifications: 

  • Possess a proven track record of achievement in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment 
  • You are confident and competent. You are diplomatic, professional and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships within the business  
  • You are serious about delivering results and take pride in a proven track record in delivering.   
  • You are a motivated leader that can inspire others; you respect your commitments and are able to obtain optimal results from your team through respect and development 
  • Either possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related scientific field; advanced degree in business administration preferred or possess equivalent years’ work experience. 
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of experience in a process manufacturing environment, with 2 years’ experience in a consultative/corporate role preferred 
  • You have advanced knowledge of the brewing, fermentation, aging, and packaging processes, and associated microbiological concerns as required 
  • You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities
  • You build relationships and collaborate to get to the desired outcome  
  • You take accountability for results – acting with integrity and honoring commitments  
  • You have a thirst for learning – you are always looking for ways to learn and help one another grow
