The Headlines:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for completing Scheduled Maintenance on all assigned equipment, as well as supporting the day to day operations of the Utilities Department. Maintaining a safe work environment for self, others in the department, and the brewery is the first priority. Expectations include monitoring equipment performance, conducting regular performance checks using automated systems and visual inspection, and identifying opportunities to improve the performance of equipment.


Scheduled maintenance and breakdown prevention will be a prime responsibility, but expectations will also include troubleshooting, and unplanned maintenance.


Regular schedule will be 6 am – 6pm, 3 weekdays each week, but vacation coverage will require moving to other days/shifts as required.


The Responsibilities:

  • Completion of utilities area maintenance work assigned; planned work (preventative & corrective) breakdown work, routine tasks
  • Troubleshoot equipment to determine cause of failure, repairs/parts required
  • Use of Computerized Maintenance system (SAP) to record work, close work orders, generate work orders, order parts and material
  •  Coordinate assigned work with shift engineer to avoid equipment downtime
  • Work with contractors on utilities equipment repairs and overhauls
  • Work as shift engineer in relief of engineers on scheduled time off. Including night shifts and weekends. All tasks performed by shift engineer

The Other Qualifications:

  • Certified 4th Class Engineer required, wage increase available upon attainment of 3rd Class
  • Ability to work various shifts including graveyards and weekends as required
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing is an asset
  • Previous maintenance work on; boilers, compressors, pumps, valves, piping
  • Ability to use hand tools, shop tools and equipment
