Global Close & Consolidation Manager



The role of Global Close and Consolidation Manager owns the global close & consolidation process to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements, maintaining a clear, well-coordinated and efficient closing process under the direction and oversight of Global Close and Consolidation Accounting Sr. Director within the Global Controller function for Molson Coors Brewing Company headquartered in Denver, Colorado in the United States.


A few key things you’ll be responsible for:   


  • Lead the preparation, review and detailed analysis of the monthly consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, statement of operations) for Molson Coors Brewing Company (100+ entities) through BPC consolidation system for the purpose of its internal and external reporting requirements, including financial statement filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.  It also includes the ownership and oversight of the timely and accurate delivery of Segment and Tax reporting requirements from the consolidation system.


  • Lead the analytical review of the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including follow up with Business Units Accounting to explain major trends and variances, as well as analysis and direct follow-up with the Global Controller and inquiries from the Company’s independent registered public accounting firm. Critical assessment of explanations provided looking for inaccuracies, inconsistencies and identifying potential needs for corrections or clarifications.


  • Own and direct the monthly close process and calendar through coordination with all impacted stakeholders both within business units and functions (including tax, treasury, global FP&A, investor relations) and oversee the completion of monthly consolidation activities and strict adherence to close schedule and key close deliverables.


  • Lead quarterly Consolidated and Business Unit Balance Sheet fluctuation analysis meetings (members include Global Controller, Global FP&A, VP of Investor Relations, etc.) and preparation of the related fluctuation analysis through coordination with Business Units Accounting representatives. These meetings and analysis directly impact the external reporting explanations and related question and answers that are including within the Company’s public filings and follow-up analyst and investor discussions regarding the results of the Company.


  • Accountable for the first level of review of the consolidated financial statements for presentation and related disclosures included within the quarterly Form 10-Q and Annual Report on Form 10-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.


  • Drive the Consolidation System and Reports Design - liaise with and drive the system applications team on regular basis regarding consolidation system maintenance, development and enhancements to ensure the current and future business consolidation & reporting requirements are met and continuous improvement objectives attained. Further responsible for testing of consolidation system changes to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. Also oversee monthly BPC Master Data to ensure the updates are properly operated and in line with the business and consolidation requirements to ensure timely and accurate consolidation.


  • Monitor the changes in U.S. GAAP accounting standards and global accounting policies as well major corporate events, including mergers and acquisitions and other transactions or activities impacting the financial statements, in order to assess consolidation system and reporting implications.


  • Assist in implementing various Global Controller’s Group continuous improvement and compliance driven initiatives and projects aiming to streamline processes, increase efficiency and effectiveness of consolidation, reporting and analysis, as well as the broader Global Controller and Finance functions.


  • Responsible for the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance within designated areas of responsibility. The processes owned include a significant number of key SOX controls, which require significant attention to detail, analytical skills and insights as well as financial discipline.
  • Coordinate the quarterly reviews/annual audit with external auditors being the primary point of contact for the Company’s independent registered public accounting firm auditing the consolidation and related activities, financial statement analysis and the associated internal control documentation and support.

The Global Close and Consolidation Manager reports to the Global Close and Consolidation Accounting Sr. Director within the Global Controller function and supervises 2 senior financial analysts. The individual will work closely with the other Global Controller teams (SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting, and Data Applications), Corporate functions (Tax, Treasury, FP&A) and as well with the Business Unit Accounting teams to ensure the quality, accuracy and consistency of the financial data reported in the consolidation systems. 


If you have the following…we want to hear from you!

  • BS/BA in Accounting; CPA/ACCA
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting roles within international companies
  • In depth understanding of technical accounting  - IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting
  • Proven expertise with company financial systems used for internal and external financial reporting, including consolidation (SAP or BPC experience highly preferred)
  • Strong relationship with, and knowledge of, other global technical functions (SEC Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Audit, Legal, FP&A, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate complex issues effectively and advise Global Controller, finance leadership and wider organization on technical consolidation accounting and related internal controls
  • Detailed oriented, critical thinking, problem-solving, ability to analyze financial statements, ability to exercise sound professional judgment, ability to plan, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines; can manage several overlapping projects at once and cope with change.
